Thomas P. Sartwelle of Beirne Maynard & Parsons L.L.P, was elected Vice President of the American Board of Professional Liability Lawyers at the ABPLA annual meeting in Atlanta earlier this month. Sartwelle is Board Certified by ABPLA in both medical and legal malpractice litigation, one of less than 10 attorneys in the USA with an ABPLA double Board Certification. He has previously served three years on the organization's Board of Governors.

 

ABPLA is a national organization certifying plaintiff and defense advocates in the area of professional negligence law. ABPLA, founded in 1972, is the only National Board Certifying organization approved by the American Bar Association to certify lawyers as medical or legal malpractice specialists. The certifying process is rigorous requiring proof of trials in the specialty, investigation of the applicant's professionalism, and passing an extensive written examination.

Sartwelle is also Board Certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, also an  ABA approved National Board Certifying organization, and in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
