David S. Gamble - In Memoriam

November 28, 2011

Beirne, Maynard & Parsons is saddened to announce that our friend and partner David S. Gamble passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2011. David was a true legal scholar, and a consummate gentleman. He was often called on to handle the most complex legal issues. While a tenacious trial lawyer, David was thoughtful of and respected by those he worked with and against. David was known for his efforts to develop young lawyers and his willingness to lend a hand to every partner at the firm, no matter how thorny the issue or late the hour.

David graduated with High Honors from the University of Texas, where he also obtained his J.D. degree. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Over the course of his career, he worked as counsel for The Coastal Corporation, formed the firm of Blackburn, Gamble & Henderson, and was Executive Vice President of TransAmerican Natural Gas Corporation. For the last 23 years, we have had the privilege of practicing law with David at Beirne, Maynard & Parsons.

David also used his talents in service to his community. He was a member of the Board of Regents of Texas Southern University from 1987 to 1993. He was long active in the Texas Lyceum Association, for which he served as both President and Chairman of the Board. David also taught trial advocacy as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston and at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.

David is survived by his wife Janine and their three children. If there was anything that David was more devoted to than his work, it was his family. He was proud that his daughter Allison had followed him into the practice of law. He enthusiastically handed out copies of his son Evan's recently recorded music CD to his co-workers. David and Janine often traveled to Austin to see dance performances of his youngest daughter Mariclaire.

David lived a full life. He added to our lives and to our firm, and he is missed.
