Our Summer Associate Program
Beirne, Maynard & Parsons offers a 2L summer associate program. Because we select all our summer associates very carefully, it is the firm’s expectation that we will be able to offer our summer associates a starting position as an Associate following their completion of the J.D. degree. Whether or not this actually occurs depends entirely on the summer associate’s performance and his or her ability to integrate well into the firm’s culture.
A Few Facts About the Summer Associate Program:
- On-campus interviews are our primary, although not exclusive, method of recruiting 2L summer associates.
- Individuals interested in our firm who attend law schools that are not on our on-campus recruiting schedule should mail resumes to our Recruiting Coordinator.
- Summer associates are assigned a mentor partner and a host associate.
- We are not divided into formal sections or departments, so summer associates are exposed to all areas of our practice, not just one or two departments. We base assignments on interest and our hiring needs.
- Summer associates attend hearings, depositions, trials, motions, mediations, etc. In other words, you will experience the world of the trial lawyer first-hand. You get to see what we do outside the office as well as inside.
- Summer associates participate in a comprehensive mock trial program that extends throughout the six weeks. We were the first law firm in Houston to have such a program, and still one of the very few. You get constructive feedback throughout.
- A lawyer promotes his firm and practice, and must have strong interpersonal skills. Through the many social activities of the program, we give our summer associates the opportunity to sharpen up those skills.
