Lori Hanson is a litigator with 24 years of experience in commercial litigation, healthcare, insurance defense and coverage issues, employment law, government defense, and appeals. Mrs. Hanson’s practice is diverse, but specialized in the area of litigation. She has substantial experience in medical negligence defense, contract, fraud, DTPA, civil rights, and constitutional law issues. She represents clients in all aspects of litigation and preparation of cases from pleadings through trial and appeal.

Representative Cases
  • Defended local government in class action lawsuit involving the constitutionality of strip searches of misdemeanor offenders confined to jail
  • Obtained verdict of over $1M for restaurant owners against insurance agent who failed to obtain property insurance before Hurricane Katrina. Restaurant owners were granted summary judgment on negligence liability of the agent and went to trial on the issues of fraud and damages. A jury determined the client was entitled to substantial damage award and found the agent committed fraud by covering up his failure to obtain property coverage
  • Successfully defended home owners in DTPA case involving a contract for deed which resulted in no recovery for Plaintiff but a substantial verdict for Defendants on their counterclaim
  • Obtained summary judgment for client sued as President of his homeowners' association for DTPA violations and fraud after HOA declined to approve a property owners' building plans
  • Obtained summary judgment on case where prior counsel litigated twelve years over allegations that adjacent landowners had easements allowing them to use roads and amenities of client's property. All issues of easements, breach of prior settlement agreement, fraud and DTPA were resolved in client's favor
  • Represented local government in numerous cases involving claims that Sheriff's deputies violated the civil rights of inmates
  • Represented local business in contract dispute with Korean company where dispute turned on electronically stored evidence
  • Obtained dismissals of medical negligence lawsuits against hospital client where Court found County owned hospital was entitled to immunity or did not receive proper notice under the Texas Tort Claims Act.
  • Defended radiologist in case alleging medical negligence resulted in brain damaged baby
  • Defended surgeon in case alleging complications of appendectomy injured a child with cerebral palsy
  • Defended insurance companies on claims they committed bad faith by failing to pay sufficient amounts for storm damage claims
