Jay Brown has achieved an exemplary record of jury verdicts and judgments in a variety of industries. These include contract disputes, fraud, wrongful death, energy, insurance bad faith, deceptive trade practices, civil rights, toxic tort, catastrophic accidents, and other cases. Well regarded as an insurance specialist, Mr. Brown has skillfully navigated numerous commercial property insurers and independent adjusters through the murky waters of first party bad faith disputes, including catastrophes involving habitational properties, office buildings, retail complexes, and refineries. He is co-chair of the firm's Insurance Litigation/Coverage section and presently serves on the firm's Executive Committee.

  • Tried numerous breach of contract, deceptive trade practices, bad faith, fraud, and personal injury cases to verdict
  • Obtained second reverse bad faith verdict in Texas. The plaintiff, suing for bad faith, received zero and had $200,000 judgment entered against her in favor of the insurer
  • Obtained hundreds of summary judgments in insurance coverage/bad faith lawsuits
  • Defends insurers and independent adjusting companies in many high-exposure coverage/bad faith suits, including first party commercial property claims arising from catastrophic losses, D&0 disputes, and liability insurance disputes
  • Represents the world’s leading industrial and medical gas supplier in business, construction, and accident suits throughout Texas
  • Represents the largest private correctional company in a variety of cases across Texas
